LABOR DEPARTMENT TO FILL FIVE VACANCIES ON EMPLOYEE WELFARE AND PENSION BENEFIT PLANS ADVISORY COUNCIL

The U. S. Department of Labor is seeking nominations for five vacancies on the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans. The terms of the five council members expire Nov. 14.

The advisory council is bipartisan with 15 members appointed by the Secretary of Labor representing broad categories of interests in the pension area.

The council submits recommendations for the administration of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and advises the Secretary on implementing these recommendations. It meets four times annually and its recommendations are included in the Secretary's annual report to Congress on ERISA. Appointments are for terms of three years.

The vacancies cover the fields of employee organizations, accounting, insurance, employers and the general public.

Nominations for the positions should be submitted in writing by Oct. 1 to Linda Jackson, Acting Executive Secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, Frances Perkins Building, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Room 5677, Washington, D.C. 20210.

Nominations must be in the form of a letter, resolution or petition and signed by the person or representative of an organization making the recommendation. The recommendation should identify the candidates by name, occupation or position, telephone number and address. The nomination also should include a brief description of the candidate's qualifications, the group or field the candidate would represent, political affiliation and availability.
