Revised Digital Signature Guide Posted to Website

Union officers must electronically sign and submit the Labor Organization Annual Report (Form LM-2) using an Access Certificate for Electronic Services (ACES) digital certificate. The Form LM-2 must be submitted to OLMS electronically. The certificates can also be used to submit Forms LM-3 and LM-4 electronically. The Department of Labor's Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) has posted on its website a revision to its guide to help labor organizations apply digital signatures to their Labor Organization Annual Report and troubleshoot some common issues that may arise. Filers are particularly reminded to review page 10 of the guide which provides instructions for entering the signatory’s phone number which must be added before applying the digital signature.

The guide, in Adobe pdf format, can be downloaded from this link:

http://www.dol.gov/regs/compliance/olms/DigSigGuide(2)_022008.pdf.

To access this guide you will need the Adobe Reader software, which can be downloaded free of charge from: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html.
An ACES certificate can be purchased through IdenTrust at: http://www.identrust.com/dol/index.html.
