The goal of the hiring process is to attract and identify the strongest candidate who possesses the skills and attributes required for the job available. Ensuring that all qualified individuals can participate in the process is key to achieving this goal. By examining an organization's hiring procedures and implementing some simple steps, employers can widen their pool of potential talent and ensure that the employment opportunities are open and accessible to all Federal jobseekers, regardless of what their disability status may be.

Section 508 — Additional Information

GSA's IT Accessibility and Workforce (ITAW) provides assistive technology solutions to eliminate barriers for people with disabilities. ITAW's Assistive Technology (AT) Showcase displays state-of-the-art assistive technologies and ergonomic solutions. ITAW is the government's principal advocate and coordinator for Section 508 implementation that requires agencies to make information technology accessible for people with disabilities.

Assistive Technology Available Through Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP)

CAP, which is housed within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), is a centrally funded program that provides assistive technology, devices and support services to Federal agencies to facilitate equal access for employees with disabilities. CAP also works with wounded service members and in addition to assisting with reasonable accommodations, CAP provides needs assessment programs as well.

CAP provides accommodations for WRP summer interns for all agencies.
