Position Description: The St. Joe Ranger District on the Idaho Panhandle National Forest will soon be hiring a permanent, full-time Silviculturist. The duty station for the position will be in St. Maries, Idaho. This is a non-supervisory position. The primary duties associated with this position include: 1) Spending field time examining the forest to find opportunities for future vegetation treatment opportunities. 2) Assisting the District Operation Staff Officer by providing advice and technical support to the timber sale program. The St. Joe Ranger District typically processes a 10mmbf timber sale program each year, with a focus on forest health and watershed restoration. 3) Participating in the preparation and review of environmental analysis reports as a primary interdisciplinary team member on vegetation management projects. This involves participation in interdisciplinary field tours and meetings, and writing baseline and future vegetation condition reports. Also, support will be provided to other resource specialists regarding silvicultural issues. Silvicultural prescriptions are prepared for stands proposed for treatment. 4) Providing support to the planting, stand examination, timber stand improvement, and tree improvement programs. On an average year, the St. Joe Ranger District oversees 250 acres of planting, 600 acres of timber stand improvement work, and 2,500 acres of stand exams.

Position Name: AAPD Youth Transitions Fellowship

Position Description:  The HSC Foundation, in partnership with the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), is now accepting applications for a paid fellowship position with the organizations’ disability youth transition and collaboration work. This fellowship is ideal for a person with a disability, who has an interest in youth career transitions and employment solutions. The fellowship starts June, 2013, and continues for 12 months. Under the supervision of AAPD’s Programs’ Manager, the Youth Transitions Fellow (YTF) will gain exposure to youth programs, serving people with disabilities and will have the opportunity to facilitate collaboration among internship, fellowship, and apprenticeship programs; based in the greater Washington, DC area. Anyone who self-identifies as an individual with any type of disability is invited to apply. You will not be required to disclose your specific disability; however, your application for this program will signify that you consider yourself a person with a disability.

Position Description: In partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Freddie Mac, an industry leader in home mortgages, is seeking a paid intern for the third round of a program with ASAN to place qualified Autistic candidates in skilled positions within the company. Freddie Mac is a dynamic environment enabling Intern Analysts to grow through a variety of experiences and responsibilities. Interns will start by learning basic core functions to understand how to work within the organization. The goal of working with the Intern program is to provide analysts an environment with learning opportunities through on the job training and courses available to Freddie Mac. This will allow analysts to build and strengthen skills as well as develop a broader set of competencies.

Position Description: The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is excited to announce the Autism Campus Inclusion project is now seeking applications for its 2013 Summer Leadership Academy. The training will take place in Washington, DC, June 9 to June 15, 2013. All expenses for the training are covered by the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, including travel, lodging and food. The ACI summer leadership training prepares students to create systems change on their college campuses. Each participant will learn valuable skills in community organizing, creating policy goals and activism. Applicants must be current college students with at least one year remaining before graduation.

Position Description: Mark Twain National Forest in 2013 will have a number of internship opportunities for college students who have an interest in, and are majoring in, recreation management or similar fields. Opportunities are available throughout the forest, and may be located on any one of the forest’s district offices. In some cases, interns may work with the forest to work on one district for at least half of their internship, and then work on another district or Supervisor’s Office for another portion of their internship. The internship will be designed to be rewarding and will focus on matching intern interests with forest needs.
