America's Heroes! America's Best!

When military personnel transition to civilian employment, America's businesses stand to benefit. Across industries, veterans are a ready source of qualified, committed job candidates with transferable skills proven in real world situations. They grasp new concepts quickly and work well both independently and as part of a team - highly prized skills in the 21st Century workplace.

Many of today's service members return home with injuries that can interfere with everyday activities, especially with respect to employment. America's employers have an important role to play in ensuring their success in the workplace. Often, a few simple workplace adaptations are all that is necessary for an employer to benefit from a dedicated, skilled employee who has sacrificed in service to our nation.

To learn more about steps you can take, visit the America's Heroes at Work website, an online resource managed collaboratively by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS). For individualized assistance with job accommodations for veterans with disabilities, contact ODEP's Job Accommodation Network (JAN).
