June 8, 2010 National Emergency Grant for Oregon and Washington
Dear Oregon and Washington Delegations:
Here is information about a National Emergency Grant (NEG) that is being awarded to the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development to serve about 90 workers affected by layoffs at Blount, Inc. (Blount), located in Portland and its subsidiary the Carlton Company, Inc. (Carlton), located in Milwaukie. Petitions for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) were certified for both companies on September 8, 2009. This dual enrollment project will provide these workers with access to “wrap-around” and supportive services that are not available through the TAA program.
