April 21, 2010 National Emergency Grant for American Samoa

Here is information about a supplemental $16,571,738 National Emergency Grant (NEG) award to assist clean-up and recovery efforts in the wake of the tsunami that struck America Samoa on September 29, 2009.
Description of NEG
- The Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration will award the American Samoa Government an incremental NEG of $16,571,738 to continue clean-up and recovery efforts for about 2,200 temporary jobs. On October 19, 2009 a NEG was approved for up to $24,857,608, with $8,285,870 released initially. This incremental and final NEG award will bring total NEG funds awarded for clean-up and recovery efforts to $24,857,608.
- The geographic areas covered by this funding are: All islands in the United States Territory of American Samoa.
