Personal Identity Verification (PIV) / Access Control

The Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card is an identification card issued to all employees and contractors who are employed by the Federal government for more than six months and successfully complete a background investigation. The card is intended to be used for gaining physical access to federal facilities and logical access to government computers and computer systems where available. The Security Center (SC) manages access control in coordination with the Human Resources Center (HRC) and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

Employees and contractors are required to wear their identification cards while in the building and to use the card readers upon entering the Frances Perkins Building, if applicable.

Employees and contractors not eligible for a PIV card may receive a facility access card as determined by DOL policy.
