MISSION:

EMC SEAL

The Emergency Management Center (EMC) oversees a Comprehensive Emergency Management System (CEMS) for the Department of Labor. The CEMS prescribes departmental roles and responsibilities to adequately prepare for and respond to a full spectrum of potential natural or man-made disasters, as well as supporting lead Federal agencies in assisting state and local governments, to include international requests for assistance, in the event of such disasters. The CEMS provides the framework for development, coordination, and direction of planning, preparedness, readiness assurance, and response activities. The CEMS also incorporates DOL roles and responsibilities in response to Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Continuity of Government (COG) emergencies.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) serves as the central point of contact for the Departmental Emergency Management Team (EMT) during natural and man-made disasters and emergencies involving the Department's personnel and/or program response. In the event of an activation, the EOC is capable of sustained 24/7 operations.
