positions) Position Brief:As a Clerk (OA), you will perform
clerical, assistant, or technical work that requires knowledge of the

Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) Positions

The Employee Benefits Security
Administration (EBSA) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of
Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and the
Federal Employees' Retirement System Act of 1986 (FERSA). The primary mission
of EBSA is to protect the pension, health and other benefits of participants in
private sector employee benefit plans. EBSA directly affects the livelihood of
over 150 million people who participate in ERISA covered plans, and protects
the U.S. economy's single largest source of capital for investment--pension
funds. Currently, there are over six (6) million private sector employee
benefit plans which hold more than $4 trillion in assets.

Brief: In this position you will conduct report and document analysis and
research laws administered by EBSA involving employee benefits plans. You may
assist investigators in the conduct of civil and criminal investigations. You
will receive calls and inquiries for information relative to office programs
and activities. In addition, you will use word processing software and printing
equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of
standardized documents using a glossary or prerecorded formats, form letters,
standard paragraphs, and mailing lists. You will also participate in special
projects with senior specialists requiring that the student accomplish some of
the tasks that would normally be done by the specialist. Background

GS-1702-5, MSHA-01-SUM Position Brief: This position is
located at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beckley, West
Virginia. The Mining/Training Technician works in the Department of
Instructional Services, Branch of Mining Technology. The technician works with
the training instructors for developmental experiences, on-the-job training and
the performance of routine, simple assignments in support of designated staff
members. Assists in the set-up and conduct of underground laboratory exercises
in the mine simulation laboratory in various technical courses including
ventilation, fire control, and mine emergencies. Assists in construction in the
mine simulation laboratory of simulated ventilation controls such as stoppings,
overcasts, and line curtains. Background Needed: Four year course of
study leading to a bachelor's degree or three years' general experience, one of
which was equivalent to at least a GS-4 level or a combination of experience

Technician, GS-1411-4/5, MSHA-02-SUM Position
Brief: This position is located at the National Mine Health and Safety
Academy in Beckley, West Virginia. The library technician works in the
Technical Information Center and Library. The position includes inputting data
in Microsoft Access database, bar-coding of book collection, inputting and
retrieving information relative to mine safety and health, and formatting or
reformatting information in Microsoft Word. Background Needed:Four
year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or three years' general
experience, one of which was equivalent to at least a GS-4 level or a
combination of experience and education. Familiarity with Microsoft Access and
Microsoft Word. Library science degree student preferred.

Brief:This position is located at the National Mine Health and Safety
Academy in Beckley, West Virginia. The Office Automation Assistant works in the
Department of Instructional Services. This position provides technical support
to professional staff members by assisting in compiling and preparation of
training course materials into the model course format. Prepares, organizes,
scans and reformats documents, manuals, and presentations to be used by Academy
