How to Apply On-Line Instructions

The Department of Labor will begin accepting applications for this opportunity beginning January 14, 2008.  Candidates must complete the online application by 11:59 pm (EST), February 11, 2008. The program will begin in the summer of 2008.

Apply online at www.jobs.dol.gov/mba.

Your initial application will consist of two components. The first component consists of an online occupational questionnaire. You will be asked to respond to a variety of questions describing your experience demonstrating the competencies identified.  The second component is your online resume, which you will provide during the registration process. If you are claiming veteran's preference, the copy of the document(s) substantiating your claim, (e.g. DD-214, VA letter, SF-15, etc.) must be included as part of your application package.

Failure to submit this supporting documentation will result in your veteran's status being treated as a 5 point tentative preference eligible.

Other application materials may be requested at a later date prior to an interview (e.g. college/university transcripts).

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Workforce Planning and e-Innovations at 202-693-7740 (voice) or 202-693-7801 (TTY).

You may also email us at MBA-Fellows@dol.gov.

Your application and all required supplemental documents must be submitted in the manner specified in this section. Applications and supplemental documents that are submitted in any other manner without prior approval from the agency point of contact will be handled as incomplete and will not be considered.

Please be advised that your application will be regarded as incomplete and will not be considered if the Human Resources Office does not receive your application and all required supplemental documentation, as specified in the "Required Documents" section of this vacancy announcement, by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

You must follow all three steps described below in order to complete the application process (you may also reference our Applicant At-A-Glance documentation at http://www.dol.gov/oasam/doljobs/apply/apply-overview.htm for guidance on how to apply):

STEP ONE: (Online Resume - USAJOBS):

To begin the application process, go to the “Apply On-Line Now!” link to the right; this link is also accessible from the www.jobs.dol.gov/mba page. This will bring you to the USAJOBS web site. You must create a user account and at least one Federal resume at USAJOBS. Information you provide in USAJOBS is general information completed by all applicants. The information you provide and your Federal resume will become part of your application and will automatically be transferred to the DOORS system when you apply on-line. After you finish submitting your resume from USAJOBS, you will automatically be taken to DOORS where you will be asked to complete the next step of the application process. You may edit your resume up until 11:59 pm EST of the announcement close date.

STEP TWO: (Vacancy Specific Questions - DOORS):

In DOORS, you will answer vacancy specific questions necessary to evaluate your qualifications for the specific job to which you are applying. When completed, the information you provided at USAJOBS and the answers to the DOORS questions will become your application. You may edit your answers up until 11:59 pm EST of the announcement close date. After the vacancy closes, the HR office uses the application package to automatically rate, rank and certify candidates.

STEP THREE: (Faxing Supporting Documentation)

The last step of the application process is to fax all of the required supplemental documentation that is specified in the "Required Documents" section of this vacancy announcement. These required documents must be received by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the vacancy announcement. The fax cover sheet with fax instructions are displayed in DOORS after you finish answering all vacancy related questions. You must use the Veteran’s Preference Eligibility fax cover sheet your supporting documents. Please follow the instructions below carefully to ensure your supporting documents are properly faxed and received:

FAX INSTRUCTIONS:

1. After answering all vacancy related questions in DOORS, you will be taken to a page listing the fax cover sheet to use for all requested supplemental documents.

2. Choose the document coversheet you would like to print by selecting the appropriate check boxes in the "Selected Documents" column.

3. Click the "Print Cover Sheets" button. A new window will pop up containing the fax cover sheet(s) that you selected. Print out the cover sheet(s). NOTE: You must be connected to a printer in order to print the coversheets.

4. Before faxing your document(s), take care to ensure that it is legible and that all information is complete and signed if necessary.

5. Place the corresponding cover sheet on top of the document and fax the cover sheet and documents together to the fax number that is specified on the cover sheet.

6. Be sure to save the cover sheet in the event that you need to re-fax your supporting documents for this vacancy announcement at a later time. Please note that this fax cover sheet can only be used for this specific vacancy announcement. Each fax transmission includes a unique identification number, which ensures that your document is processed correctly.

7. You should receive an e-mail that the fax has been successfully received by Human Resources. This EMAIL CONFIRMATION is your official receipt of submission. The fax confirmation generated by the fax machine is NOT your official receipt of submission.

Your application will be considered incomplete and YOU WILL BE FOUND INELIGIBLE if you fail to submit the required documentation as specified under the required documents section by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
