Locations of positions

Most of the positions are located in Washington, DC, including:

  • Frances Perkins Building
    200 Constitution Avenue NW
    Headquarters
  • Postal Square Building,
    2 Massachusetts Avenue, NE
    (Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Positions at the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) are located in Arlington, VA.

There may also be opportunities for projects in our regional offices nationwide.

Application Procedures, General Information and Requirements

1. Review the information outlined on this page.

2. Review the List of Internship Positions and Announcement Numbers listed on page 6 then turn to the page number under Internship Number for a detailed description of the position. Please note the type of position identified (i.e., Academic Credit, Volunteer or Paid)

3. Prepare a resume for each position that interests you, (photo copies are acceptable) and indicate the following on your application:

  • The internship number of each position for which you are applying
  • Your full legal name and mailing address
  • Daytime and evening telephone numbers
  • Social security number
  • Country of citizenship
  • DD-214 or SF-15 (veterans only)
  • Previous job experience. For each job listed, include name of employer; dates of employment; job title; start and end dates; a description of the duties and responsibilities; and hours worked per week
  • Name, city and state of colleges or universities attended as well as date of diploma. Also include type and year of any degree received and majors. If no degree, include total credits earned and indicate whether semester or quarter hours
  • To receive credit for relevant training, list seminar/course titles, dates, number of hours and name of the institution from which training was received
  • Description of honors, awards and special qualifications such as language skills and computer skills

All positions require United States citizenship.

Student Status Requirement
Unless otherwise indicated in the job brief, you must be a graduate student in order to apply for these positions
