US Department of Labor announces date change for next Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship meeting

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a date change for the next public meeting of the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship. The discretionary committee will convene for an in-person meeting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 16, 2022, in the department’s Frances Perkins Building in Washington.

Committee meetings are open to the public; however, the department asks that members of the public join virtually due to evolving COVID-19 safety protocols. The department can accommodate up to 3,000 participants on the virtual platform. The Office of Apprenticeship will post a meeting summary on its website.

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh reestablished the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship on May 4, 2021, and on Sept. 20, 2021, the department announced the appointment of members to serve two-year terms. The committee met virtually on Oct. 6, 2021, and Jan. 26, 2022. The third meeting had been scheduled for April 28, 2022.

Committee members provide advice and recommendations on issues related to Registered Apprenticeship. Through its work with the department, the committee seeks to align apprenticeship opportunities with education and workforce systems, leading to more equitable access for all workers to participate and succeed in the National Apprenticeship system and the expansion, modernization, and diversification of apprenticeships in new industries.
