Problem to be Addressed |
It has been estimated that over 1 million Moldovans (or 1/4 of the population) are working abroad, many illegally, in order to support themselves and their families. Over 1,000 have returned to Moldova as self-identified victims of sex trafficking. Unfortunately, without reintegration and assistance services, victims are highly likely to be re-victimized. Young women from rural areas and of low-income levels are also considered at-risk of being trafficked due to a lack of sufficient job opportunities for them in Moldova. |
TARGET POPULATION |
Female victims of trafficking and young (16-25 years old), rural women at high-risk of being trafficked, especially 16-18 year olds. |
