Problem to be Addressed |
The Master Plan for the Elimination of Child Labor of HMG/Nepal targets 16 worst forms of child labor to be eliminated in a seven-year period. Child labor is deeply embedded in the cultural, social, and economic scenarios and history of Nepal. The main determining factors are household poverty and the poor performance of the education system in preventing child labor. |
Results |
The project withdrew 8,860 children and prevented 1,748 children from work in portering, rag-picking, domestic services, the carpet industry, mining, and trafficking for sexual or labor exploitation. |
