Problem to be Addressed |
The new Master Plan for the Elimination of Child Labor of HNG/Nepal targets 16 worst forms of child labor to be eliminated in a seven-year period. Child labor is deeply embedded in the cultural, social, and economic scenarios and history of Nepal. The main determining factors are household poverty and the poor performance of the education system in preventing child labor. |
Results |
The project withdrew and prevented 77,450 children from work in portering, ragpicking, domestic work, the carpet industry, mining, and trafficking for sexual or labor exploitation. The project targeted the 22 districts most severely affected by the problem. |
