Labor Diplomacy

The Office of Foreign Relations has a long-term institutional relationship with the State Department to carry out labor diplomacy. OFR works closely with State to post Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) to strategically important countries for advancing the USG’s international labor agenda. In addition, OFR assists in the preparation of the FSOs to ensure that that they have the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively research and report on labor conditions and developments, promote the USG’s labor policies abroad, and provide critical oversight and support to OFR’s technical cooperation projects.
