September 28, 2009: U.S. Department of Labor awards nearly $59 million to eliminate exploitive child labor in 19 countries.
September 25, 2009: Secretary Solis joined OCFT grantees and staff in viewing a Hispanic Heritage Month exhibit that includes drawings and letters produced by child beneficiaries in Latin America.
The exhibit, titled “The Colors of Hope/Los Colores de la Esperanza” includes drawings and letters produced by children removed from exploitive labor in various Latin America countries as a direct result of DOL-funded projects. DOL has invested close to $150 million on 54 projects that combat exploitive child labor in 19 countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
September 10, 2009: The U.S. Department of Labor released three reports on child labor and/or forced labor in foreign countries, including the initial List of Goods Produced by Child or Forced Laborrequired by the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005 (TVPRA List).
The report informs the public about 122 goods from 58 countries that ILAB has reason to believe are produced by forced labor, child labor or both, in violation of international standards. ILAB also released a proposed update to its List of Products Produced by Forced or Indentured Child Labor pursuant to Executive Order 13126 of 1999, which includes 29 products from 21 countries. The list is available for public comment beginning September 11th. In addition, ILAB published its eighth annual Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labor as mandated by the Trade and Development Act of 2000, on the efforts of 141 countries and territories to combat exploitive child labor.

July 14, 2009: ILAB issued an amendment to the Solicitation for Cooperative Agreements Applications for Projects to Combat Exploitive Child Labor in Guatemala, Indonesia, Nepal, and Rwanda (SGA 09-06) on Grants.gov. Applicants should note that this amendment only affects the country scope of work requirements for Nepal.

June 2, 2009: ILAB Published its FY 2009 Solicitation for Cooperative Agreement Applications (SGA 09-06) for Projects to Combat Exploitive Child Labor through Education
ILAB will award up to USD 18.45 million in cooperative agreement awards for projects to combat exploitive child labor in Guatemala (up to USD 4.2 million), Indonesia (up to USD 5.5 million), Nepal (up to USD 4.25 million) and Rwanda (up to USD 4.5 million). The deadline for submission of applications is July 27, 2009.
May 18, 2009: ILAB/OCFT to Hold Bidders’ Meeting on June 24, 2009 on Forthcoming FY 2009 Solicitation for Cooperative Agreement Applications
ILAB will now hold its Bidders' Meeting related to the forthcoming FY 2009 Combating Exploitive Child Labor Solicitation for Cooperative Agreement Applications (SGA) on June 24, 2009, as indicated in a correction published in today's Federal Register to ILAB's previously published Notice of Intent. As stated in our Notice of Intent published in the Federal Register on April 10, 2009, ILAB intends to obligate approximately USD 20 million to support cooperative agreement awards to organizations to address child labor in Guatemala, Indonesia, Nepal, and Rwanda. The meeting will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. April 10, 2009: ILAB Announces a Notice of Intent to Fund International Child Labor Elimination Projects in Fiscal Year 2009
ILAB intends to obligate approximately USD 20 million to organizations to address child labor internationally through education. ILAB intends to award cooperative agreements to support efforts to address exploitive child labor in the following four countries: Guatemala, Indonesia, Nepal, and Rwanda.
March 18, 2009: ILAB Seeks Public Comments on Past Solicitations for Cooperative Agreement Applications
A General Solicitation of Public Comments on Past Solicitations for Cooperative Agreement Applications, published today in the Federal Register, states that ILAB's Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking (OCFT) is soliciting public comments on past Solicitation for Cooperative Agreement Applications (SGAs) for projects to combat exploitive child labor internationally through education. ILAB/OCFT is seeking general comments from the public on past SGAs, as well as suggestions for improving future SGAs, in preparation for a possible FY 2009 Notice of Availability of Funds and SGA(s) for child labor projects. Comments will be accepted through March 31, 2009.
January 21, 2009: Request for Nominations for the Consultative Group to Eliminate the Use of Child Labor and Forced Labor in Imported Agricultural Products
The Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a Federal Register Notice inviting the public to nominate non-governmental members of the “Consultative Group to Eliminate the Use of Child Labor and Forced Labor in Imported Agricultural Products,” mandated under the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 ("Farm Bill"). These include nominations of private agriculture-related enterprises; institutions of higher education and research; organizations that provide independent, third-party certification services for labor standards; and non-profit organizations that have expertise in the areas of international child labor and forced labor. Nominations are due March 9, 2009 and should be submitted to USDA or to DOL, as specified in the Notice.
