Reduced coal mining fatalities through the introduction of safety equipment and materials not available in Ukraine.

• Recognition of technical effectiveness in Ukraine of horizontal drilling techniques to reduce methane concentrations at the coal face.
• Recognition of technical effectiveness in Ukraine of improved ventilation techniques to reduce methane concentrations at critical locations.
• Recognition of technical effectiveness in Ukraine of roof bolting techniques.
• Recognition of new techniques in mitigating personal injuries.

• Demonstration of horizontal drilling techniques at one mine.
• Dissemination of the results from the horizontal drilling demonstration.
• Demonstration of external leakage sealing techniques at two mines.
• Demonstration of internal leakage sealing techniques in the primary and secondary ventilation system at two mines.
