Project Title

Survey methodology for national level estimates of children in the unconditional worst forms of child labor

Region/Country

GLOBAL

Project Duration

September 2005 – September 2008

Fiscal Year & Funding Level

FY2005: $999,970

Problem to be Addressed

Previous survey-based research on the unconditional worst forms for child labor (UWFCL) has primarily been descriptive and qualitative. Very little quantitative information on children in the UWFCL has been collected. The current project seeks to develop a sampling framework and methodology for estimating the incidence and distribution of these target groups at the national level.

Project Objectives

To contribute to the elimination of child labor, particularly the unconditional worst forms, through improvement of statistical estimates and quantifiable information for improved policy and program formulation

Summary of Activities

  • Review paper containing a critical appraisal of the findings on UWFCL;

  • Conduct 6 different pilot tests of draft methodology;

  • Finalize and disseminate SIMPOC methodology manual on the collection of data for estimating UWFCL.
