Joint Declaration Between The Department of Labor of the United States of America
and the Ministry of Foreign Affiars of the United Mexican States
To Reaffirm their Commitment of Working Together to
Inform Mexican Workers in the United States about their Labor Rights

The Department of Labor of the United States of America and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, including its Embassy and Consulates in the United States;

Desiring to continue to work collaboratively;

TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION the results obtained through the U.S.-Mexico Joint Declaration between the Department of Labor of the United States of America and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, signed at Washington, D.C., on July 21, 2004;

Have declared their intention as follows:

To work together to foster an environment in which workers’ rights are respected, including to improve employer compliance with and worker awareness of workplace laws and regulations applicable to all Mexican workers in the United States; to collaborate with each other and other relevant governmental agencies and private organizations as appropriate and as mutually agreed upon by our two governments; and to continue to strengthen cooperative relationships between our Governments and promote a better understanding of labor laws and practices in the United States through information sharing, outreach, education, training, and exchange of best practices.

Signed at Washington, D.C., in duplicate in English and Spanish, on the fourth day of May of two thousand and ten.
