How Often Prevailing Wage Surveys Must Be Conducted Under FLSA Section 14(c) The prevailing wage survey must be conducted prior to paying a special minimum wage. It then must be reviewed and updated at least once a yearmore frequently when a change in the prevailing wage has most likely occurred, such as when the FLSA minimum wage or a state minimum wage has been increased. It is important to note that although many FLSA Section 14(c) certificates remain in effect for two years, the prevailing wage surveys must be conducted no less frequently than once a year. It is also important to remember that once a new prevailing wage has been established, it should be implemented, and workers should receive commensurate wages based on it for all work performed in the next complete pay period.
