1/Includes retirees receiving pension annuities, retirees entitled to a vested pension benefit but not yet in pay status, and retirees who received a lump sum pension distribution either after age 54 or at an earlier age and rolled the distribution over into retirement savings. 2/Includes only retirees with health coverage that can be continued for life. 3/Retirees are defined as those who have withdrawn from the labor force and who formerly worked for the same employer for a period of five years or more or who receive pension benefits or health coverage based on their former employment. 4/The employment sector for retirees receiving both benefits is based on the employer providing pension benefits.
