1/Includes retirees receiving pension annuities, retirees entitled to a vested pension benefit but not yet in pay status, and retirees who received a lump sum pension distribution either after age 54 or at an earlier age and rolled the distribution over into retirement savings.

2/Includes only retirees with health coverage that can be continued for life.

3/Retirees are defined as those who have withdrawn from the labor force and who formerly worked for the same employer for a period of five years or more or who receive pension benefits or health coverage based on their former employment.

4/The employment sector for retirees receiving both benefits is based on the employer providing pension benefits. Health benefits may or may not be provided by the same employer or by an employer in the same sector.
