ERISA Advisory Council to Hold September Teleconferences

Washington, DC - The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans and its three working groups will convene via teleconference on September 22 and 23, at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, in Washington, DC. Each of the teleconferences will originate from Conference Room N-3437 C-D.

The Working Group on Optional Professional Management in Defined Contribution Plans will convene from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EDT on September 22. The meeting of the Working Group on Healthcare Security is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

On September 23, the Working Group on Defined Benefit Plan Funding will convene from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. EDT and will be followed at 2:00 p.m. by the full advisory council meeting, at which time chairs will discuss the working groups’ progress with the full Advisory Council membership.

The public is welcome to attend and listen to the groups discuss the three study topics for the year. A notice announcing the meetings was published on September 3, 2003 in the Federal Register. The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members, appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Secretary of Labor to provide advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans sponsored by private-sector employers. The members represent the general public, employer and employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management and investment counseling, accounting and actuarial services.
