Baton Rouge-based Faith Home Health Care Services,
Inc. officials were indicted by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of
Louisiana for fraud involving Medicare reimbursements to the companys
pension plan.
According to the indictment, company president
Paulette White Jackson and her daughter, Detra Tate Fairley, who was the
companys vice president, received money from Medicare for purposes of
funding the companys pension plan. They allegedly failed to forward the
money to the pension plan. In addition, the defendants are charged with
embezzling $8,000 for their own use and to pay business expenses in July,
1996.
The July 21 indictments resulted from an
investigation conducted by the U.S. Labor Departments Dallas Regional
Office of the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration and the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General, Baton
Rouge Field Office. The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana L.
J. Hymel prosecuted the case.
