Pa. Pension Trustee Sentenced For Embezzling Plan Money

A federal district court in Philadelphia ordered the trustee of the Dr. Lawrence Manin Profit Sharing Plan, located in Cherry Hill, N.J., to make $24,093 in restitution, sentenced him to12 months and one day in prison in prison, and placed him on probation.

Judge Jan Dubios sentenced Dr. Lawrence Manin on April 28 in Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Last July, Manin was convicted after being indicted on one count of embezzling money from the company’s pension plan.

Manin was the sole trustee of the plan covering six participants. The plan is governed by the federal pension law, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, which is administered by the U.S. Labor Department’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA).

The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Regional Office of PWBA and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia, Pa.
