Oklahoma City – A free
health law compliance assistance seminar, sponsored by the U.S.
Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA)
and the Oklahoma Insurance Department, will take place January 16-17 at
the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel, One N. Broadway in Oklahoma City.
The seminar is part of EBSA’s health education
campaign to help workers and employers, especially small businesses,
understand their rights and obligations under various health benefit
laws. Sessions will cover the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act and other federal benefits laws under Part 7 of the
Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Information also will be
presented on fiduciary responsibility, COBRA, Family and Medical Leave
Act, health savings accounts and HIPAA privacy.
Panelists will include representatives of EBSA, the
Labor Department’s Employment Standards Administration, Oklahoma
Insurance Department, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Department
of Health and Human Services.
