Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority veterans police officer hiring event

The Veterans' Employment and Training Service hosted a hiring fair on June 4 for veterans conducted by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
Terry Gerton, VETS' assistant secretary, policy, welcomed the job seekers and noted they could also get career guidance and employment help at any one of the 2,500 American Job Centers nationwide.
Tim Green, director of Strategic Outreach for VETS, and an Air Force veteran, briefs participants on the various services offered to veterans by the department.
Lane Williams, the director of Veterans Employment and Training for the District of Columbia, told the audience employers need the skills veterans can bring to the workplace.
Maurice Blue, WMATA's senior sourcing officer-military recruitment, said his agency was conducting testing for qualified veterans seeking positions with the Metro Transit Police Force.
