On Jan. 22nd, Secretary Perez visits with students at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco to discuss learning the skills they need to enter the workforce.
Secretary Perez tours La Cocina, a San Francisco-based food business incubator that helps low-income food entrepreneurs with kitchen space, technical expertise and market access. "It's impossible not to spend time here and be anything other than inspired," said Secretary Perez.
A food entrepreneur gives Secretary Perez a sample of "chin-chin", a typical Nigerian crunchy snack made with flour that is currently produced and marketed with the help and expert assistance of the San Francisco-based food business incubator.
Secretary Perez participates in a roundtable discussion on immigrant integration and the workforce. In attendance were leaders of more than 20 San Francisco-based immigration advocacy organizations. Secretary Perez underscored the need for Congress to swiftly pass immigration reform.

During his visit to San Francisco on Jan. 22, Secretary Perez had the opportunity to address DOL employees at the San Francisco Federal Building.
"I want to make sure you wake up every day and have a hop in your step," said Secretary Perez to DOL employees in San Francisco.
