Rebeca Guerra (right), California's state monitor advocate and Juan Regalado (left), the Employment and Training Administration's National Monitor Advocate, look forward to the annual event. Guerra works for the California Employment Development Department, which started holding the breakfasts in 1979.
ETA's Juan Regalado (center) and Annie Taamilo, deputy division chief with the Calif. Employment Development Department (right), serve breakfast to farm workers in Calexico, Calif., before dawn. Regalado, who worked in the fields of Central California as a young man, has worked with employment programs at the local, state and federal level. Regalado is responsible for coordinating employment services under DOL programs for farm workers nationwide.
Community outreach and resource planning specialist Silvia Salazar, San Diego District Office of the Wage and Hour Division, arrived in the early morning to help with the annual event honoring farm workers in Southern California.
An estimated 4,000 farm workers received an early morning breakfast plus services in San Luis, Ariz. at the event sponsored by Campesinos Sin Fronteras.
