World Day Against Child Labor Film Screening of "Girl Rising"

Acting Secretary Harris greets Ambassador of Nepal Dr. Shankar Sharma before the screening of the film "Girl Rising."
In his remarks, acting Secretary Harris thanked the panel participants for shining a spotlight and sharing their insights on the issue of education of girls worldwide.
Holly Gordon, executive producer of the film "Girl Rising," discusses the powerful stories of girls from nine countries and how the film took shape. Panelists included (left to right) ILAB's Carol Pier, Ambassador Sharma, Laura Bermudez of World Vision and Gordon.
Ambassador Sharma focused on his country's progress in making education possible for girls through free primary education and cash payments to parents as an incentive to send girls to school.
World Vision's Laura Bermudez talks about her work with the Labor Department and other organizations in improving the lives of children such as those portrayed in the film.
