  • Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) gave a historical perspective on advancing the cause of persons with disabilities and thanked Secretary Solis (seated) and her staff for their leadership in implementing programs that have a real impact on the lives of that community.
  • Kareem Dale, special assistant to the President for Disability Policy, conveyed the President's support of jobs for people with disabilities and his commitment to continue to push for issues like integrated employment.
  • Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) recognized the great accomplishments of ODEP and noted how its programs has been important in raising the dignity of the disability community.
