EXECUTIVE SUMMARY REPORT
I. INTRODUCTION TO THE PIA
The Department of Labor Accounting and Related Systems (DOLAR$) is the
central accounting system for the Department. It is owned and operated by the
Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Users are located in the DOL agencies at
both the national and regional office. The system is classified as a Major
Application System and a System of Record.
The system contains a vendor record with fields to identify personal and
banking information to pay vendors, including DOL employees for travel
vouchers. Payroll is a separate system owned by OASAM and is outside the scope
of this report.
PIA APPROACH
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer conducts numerous processes
and maintains relevant documentation required for Federal financial systems,
Major Application Systems, and Privacy Act Systems of Record. The information
for this exercise was gathered from those documents and then verified by OCFO
system experts and managers.
PIA RESULTS
The PIA assessment revealed that one field -bank account type - of the
Vendor Record is excluded in the Privacy Act Record Notice. OCFO has notified
the Office of the Solicitor and an amendment will be filed in the Federal
Register.
