Special Meeting of Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health ,

OSHA will hold a special meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health. ACCSH will consider a proposed rule to update OSHA’s standard on accident prevention signs and tags in construction. The standard requires that signs and symbols be visible at all times to warn workers of existing hazards when work is being performed. The updates are based on revisions in the American National Standards Institute consensus standards. The committee will also consider proposed amendments and corrections to OSHA’s Cranes and Derricks standards. ACCSH, established under the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, advises the secretary of labor and assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health on construction standards and policy matters.

The event is sponsored by Legal Momentum and the New York Collaboration for Women in Construction. The New York Collaboration for Women in Construction is a coalition of organizations, tradeswomen, and other advocates dedicated to increasing opportunities for tradeswomen. Other participating organizations will include representatives from the New York City District Council of Carpenters, the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, and the Mason Tenders Training Fund. The event will include a panel discussion to be moderated by the Director of Labor and Employment Law Programs of Cornell University’s ILR School.
