Sample Drug-Free Work Week Proclamation

[Consider customizing this proclamation language and requesting that your mayor, governor or organization leader proclaim Drug-Free Work Week. Then, promote that leader’s official proclamation among your organization’s members and/or the local media, and post the signed proclamation at your place of business.]

Drug-Free Work Week: A Proclamation

Reducing workplace alcohol and drug abuse is an essential part of our efforts to keep our workplaces safe and our economy dynamic and healthy.  In this spirit, the <City of / State of (Name) or Company Name> is recognizing the annual Drug-Free Work Week campaign to highlight the value of drug-free workplace programs and raise awareness of the many resources available to achieve safe, healthy and drug-free work environments.  Activities during Drug-Free Work Week will remind us that “working drug-free works,” and affirm our <company’s/city’s/state’s/organization’s> commitment to protecting the safety of America's working men and women by eliminating drug and alcohol use on the job.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, _______________________do hereby proclaim <Dates>, as Drug-Free Work Week.  I call upon employers and workers to observe this week with appropriate programs and activities, and to advance Drug-Free Work Week’s positive messages throughout the year.
