Skills Summit Highlights

Statement from

Rey Ramsey, Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise Foundation

Rey Ramsey, COO, Enterprise Foundation

Place still matters in America because there remain whole areas in cities, suburbs and rural regions where unemployment and under-employment are intolerably high.

To reverse these negative outcomes, a bold but rational strategy is needed that is centered on connecting individuals to the economy regardless of where they live. Life skills, technical training, healthcare, education and economic literacy are some of the areas we must address.

However, the good news is that all over this country business, government, and non-profit organizations are joining forces to blur traditional roles in search of solutions.

Speed and time matter because this digital age in which we live -- with its seemingly endless economic growth -- threatens to create an even larger gulf between the "haves" and the "have-nots" in our society. An unintentional consequence of prosperity.
