Introduction Delivered by
U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Event
Washington, D.C.,
April 12, 2006
Good afternoon.
Thank you for being here. We are here for a very special occasion. President George W. Bush is appearing before us to discuss a new program that will help our nation's seniors and to ensure that the Asian American community and others understand how to utilize this valuable benefit.
The President understands Asians' deep reverence for our elders. That's why he wanted to come here today and share with you this important new benefit and how it will help our families. This president cares deeply about our community. He's appointed more Asian Pacific Americans to higher levels of our government more than 300 in our country's history.
So please join me in giving a special, warm welcome to the President of the United States, President George W. Bush.
