The POWER Council

On July 19, 2010, President Obama established the Protecting Our Workers' and Ensuring Reemployment (POWER) Initiative to improve workplace safety and health while reducing hardship, dislocation, and financial costs associated with on-the-job injuries and illness. It is the mission of the POWER Council to provide a forum for the sharing of challenges, best practices, knowledge, and experience to help enhance workplace safety and minimize the impact of workplace injuries.

The Department of Labor (DOL) initiated a study to identify strategies that Federal agencies may utilize to increase the successful return to work of employees who have sustained disabilities as a result of workplace injuries or illness. This study was shared with the POWER Return to Work Council and, with their input, we have developed a presentation with some best and promising practices which can be found here.
