RICK SCOTT
GOVERNOR

March 4, 2013

Dear Friends:

As Governor of the Sunshine State, it is my pleasure to extend best wishes to all observing the 100th anniversary of the United States Department of Labor. For the past century, the department has continually sought to make the American workplace safer, healthier, and fairer for everyone. As our nation's and Florida's workforce has entered the 21st century, government has partnered with employers, community organizations, and colleges and universities to improve job training and advance opportunities for individuals to pursue the American dream.

Today, the federal agency, together with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, promotes economic opportunities for all Floridians through successful workforce, community, and economic development strategies. By researching labor market trends and helping job seekers search for employment opportunities, businesses and individuals alike are able to learn about Florida's job market and ways to prepare for a new career.

In addition to these vital roles to strengthen job creation in the Sunshine State, I am focused on putting the right strategies in place to move Florida's economy in the right direction: making Florida the No.1 place for businesses to succeed, keeping the cost of living low for families and businesses, and making sure our schools prepare students for the career or college of their dreams.

Best wishes for a memorable and successful centennial anniversary year.

Sincerely,

Robert Scott
Governor
