WHEREAS, the United States Department of Labor has fostered, promoted and developed the welfare of wage earners, job seekers and retirees in this country for the past 100 years and has continually strived to improve working conditions and make the American workplace safer, healthier and more fair for everyone; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Labor has a strong commitment to assure working families across the country of their work related benefits and rights, and meet the changing needs of the workforce by partnering with employers, community organizations, and institutions of higher learning to provide job training and lifelong learning opportunities for profitable employment; and
WHEREAS, the united States Department of Labor has made a tremendous impact by reaching outside the workplace and touching the lives of all people by allowing parents to take leave and tend to loved one, as well as training veterans and young people for careers of a lifetime, thereby contributing to the well-being of all Americans;
NOW BE IT THEREFORE DECLARED that the Anaheim city council congratulates the united States Department of Labor on its 100th anniversary and extends their best wishes for continued success in addressing the future needs of workers in the years ahead.
